INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS
This is a high quality aftermarket FRP kit. To achieve a professional finish, the following steps are required, in this order:
- 1. Pre-fitting: Always test-fit every panel to the vehicle first, before any sanding, priming, or painting.
- 2. Professional Adjustment: As with most FRP components, sanding, trimming, or minor drilling may be required to align every panel correctly.
- 3. Preparation: Once fitment is confirmed, every panel requires professional priming.
- 4. Paint: Every panel arrives in a raw gel coat finish and is painted last, to match your vehicle paint code.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is FRP suitable for a daily driver?
Absolutely. FRP is superior for daily use because it is 100% rust proof. Its lighter weight helps your engine work less, contributing to better fuel economy, and it resists the warping issues common with plastic parts in Australian heat.
What happens if I damage this panel on the street or track?
This is the primary advantage of Hand Laid FRP. Unlike plastic panels that are often disposable once cracked, FRP is fully repairable. Any local body shop can easily patch, reshape, and repaint the panel, extending the life of your investment.
What is the difference between Hand Laid and Chopper Gun?
Many mass produced kits use a chopper gun which sprays short random glass strands into a mould. This results in heavy and brittle panels. Our Hand Laid process involves manually layering continuous glass mats, ensuring a consistent resin to glass ratio and higher impact resistance.
Will this kit fit a VT Wagon?
Not as a full kit. This kit's VY Style front bumper is made for the VX front end, while the rear bumper also suits the VT Wagon. VT Wagon owners can pair our VY Style front bumper made for the VT with the VT VX Wagon rear bumper, both sold separately. Please contact us before ordering side skirts for a VT Wagon.
Will this kit fit a VX Sedan or Ute?
Not as a full kit. The front bumper suits the VX Sedan, Ute and Wagon, and the side skirts are a long-wheelbase design also used on the Ute, but the rear bumper is made for the Wagon only. The Sedan has a shorter wheelbase and needs its own side skirts.
Will this be a professional fit out of the box?
No aftermarket FRP panel is a simple bolt-on like an OEM part. While our moulds are high quality, minor professional adjustment is standard industry practice to account for chassis variance. This is why professional pre-fitting is required before paint.
